Operation Dire Elixir After-Action-Review Empty Operation Dire Elixir After-Action-Review

Hey everyone,

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone that made it to this Operation. I've been trying to get this up and going since before I was offered the Guildmaster spot, so thank you for finally bringing it to fruition.

I apologize for the confusion on when it was happening and if anyone missed it because of that. It took a lot of people to make it a success, which is why I kept bumping it back.

What I'd like from everyone is some feedback on what went well, what went wrong, and ideas on how we can improve events for next time. I'll post my thoughts for each and you can reply with any additional comments you have.

Positives
-Great RP that adapted to the situation. A lot of you were able to play off each others comments and actions to make a really engaging RP.
-Great communication. I was sitting on the Aegis the entire time and was able to keep track of what was happening on the ground. I really appreciate that because I'd like to be hands-off and leave it to your teams, but still get to enjoy the action. I think having several different IC channels and an OOC channel makes that possible.

Negatives
-A few individuals tried to drive the story. To make these large ops work, we need to work as a team. Most of you did that, but some tried to drive the story too much. Remember, we're a military unit, so you are expected to follow orders no matter what platoon, squad, or team you're in. That doesn't mean that you can't add unique events that relate to your character into the event (like Gem's mysterious ailment), but don't try to do anything that completely dominates and takes over the event (like taking on the World Boss). I believe the main emphasis and plot of the operation should be up to the individual that comes up with the story (which will not always be me...I hope). That doesn't mean that you can't have fun with it and add your character's flavor by any means, but you shouldn't try to take over everything, either. We were unable to get to all that I had planned for the event due to deviations, which is fine because I adapted it, but somewhat frustrating as well. As Eisenhower once said: "In preparing for battle, I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable." I'm fine with adapting, but respect anyone who writes the story by not trying to take over it.
-RP of some individuals. As we seek recruits to build up our guild, sometimes we strike gold and sometimes...not so much. I think we've found some pretty amazing new recruits recently, but some haven't been so hot. One way to combat this is for all of us to make more of an effort in finding potential additions to our ranks. You can do that by actively pitching on your planets or by randomly trying to start up RP with people. Make sure you feel them out with an interview, but I trust your discretion in recruiting new privates. If they end up being an issue, we can always deal with that as it comes.

Alright, my ideas to improve were worked in there and I've already bored you to death. Let me know what you think. Also, check out Esk'aross' RP debriefing of the mission to catch up on what happened or make additions if you were there.

Thanks again everyone,
Too-Dee
